prayer warrior or prayer worrier

Are you a prayer worrier, or a prayer warrior?

Most of us parents want to be prayer warriors… but too often we fall into the trap of being a prayer worrier.

The difference is very subtle…

You and I are supposed to take our worries, our concerns to the LORD. He is the only one who can do anything about them, so taking them to Him is the RIGHT thing to do.

And there are many burdens we carry…

  • Desires for our families
  • Concerns about our children
  • Burdens concerning our marriages
  • And the daily burdens of life – finances, health, decisions that need to be made, and on and on the list goes…

But we often pray in a worrying manner – fretting, being anxious… and that falls into the category of worrying.

A prayer warrior’s mindset is one of

  • Faith in God’s ability (He is all powerful… remember that)
  • Trust in God’s goodness (He is nothing BUT good… remember that)
  • Confidence in His wisdom (He is all wise… remember that)
  • Reliance upon His will (His will is always best… remember that)

We must do our best to keep our focus on those things – on the greatness and majesty of our God, who wants to hear our prayers, rather than on the size or importance of the issues we are facing.

Yes, we can have great concerns about the people and issues in our lives.

Yes, we can (and should) take them to the LORD.

But, once we take them to Him, we must look to who He is, not to the size of our problems.

As we do, the burden becomes a joy – because we know that we have placed them in the hands of the only One who is truly able to handle them…

and that He will handle them rightly.
